Metta launches Nairobi startup catalyst programe

Nairobi based startup catalyst Metta has organised a series of events where startups will meet to show case their ideas and pitch for financing even as they network.

According to Metta, the series will bring together start-ups and industry leaders from different sectors each month into a comprehensive program comprising expert speaker sessions, curated workshops, and networking opportunities.

The monthly events will seek to feature unique sector every month beginning with the Education sector in February.


Applications are open till Sunday, 12th February. The intensive curriculum will span four days and culminate in a demo day where selected start-ups will have an opportunity to deliver an elevator pitch on the Mettā stage.

“We are building a network of spaces around the world that serve as homes and meeting spots for entrepreneurs and innovators,” the catalyst said on its website.

Mr. Tony Verb, Managing Partner of Mettā said during its launch last year that , “Great things happen when the right people meet for the right reasons. Mettā is opening today to bring startup communities, ecosystems and all forward-thinking, collaborative minds closer together in a meaningful way.

Metta was launched mid last year in HongKong to provide a fora for entrepreneurs and help catalyse the growth of small businesses. It was been created to bring startups, innovators, influencers, and companies from around the world closer together and support them on their path to success.

There is a buzz of activities around startups not only in Africa but around the world with several ideas touching all sector being tested for market suitability in the hope it will help grow jobs and reduce pressure on governments and large corporates.

This has led to the formation of startup ecosystems in which Metta is part of.
