News woman turned social entrepreneur Zain Verjee is set to oversee her team of 25 Africans graduate under the Amplify Fellowship for Content Creators on Friday April 7, 2017 in Nairobi.
The 25 drawn from Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda have been undergoing a six month capacity building program to create content from Africa by Africans at aKoma.net.
aKoma is an open source content platform and storytelling community where a combination of user generated and original content about Africa and its diaspora are created, published and shared with the world.
The 25 fellows came on board to flex their creative talent, tested new genres of storytelling, and with new tips and creative talent, they captured stories about their world and environment.
“It’s been an incredible ride for the aKoma team: six months ago, we launched the thanks to the MasterCard Foundation They created stories, owned them and showcased images that we don’t typically see in international media,” said Zain.
GE Africa is bringing all the cohorts, country captains, subject matter experts, and the core team together, in Nairobi on April 7th. “To turn on the screws, we’ll have a panel of judges to determine how good the campaigns are, and to determine a winning campaign,” she wrote.
