Online trade grew rapidly this year with many Kenyans going online for their choicest goods and the latest report shows the list of most demanded products by online shoppers in Kenya.
Mobile Phones were the most ordered product online with the total listing value of mobile phones on the market rising tremendously by 608 percent to Sh99.1 million from March 2016 even as demand rose 15pc in the same period.
TV Sets come in second, with a total listing value of Sh86.7 million, a 34.6 per cent increase from February 2017. The Demand Index increased by 6.9 per cent between February and March 2017.
Laptops were the third most demanded electronic products even though its total listing dropped from Sh16.9 million in March 2017 from Sh31.3 million in February last year.
Coming in fourth were tablets, which according to Data Fintech, increased in stock value by 22% between February and March 2017.
The listing value of the devices mostly demanded by the young Kenyans also increased by 232% between March 2016 and March 2017.
Hifi systems were the fifth most ordered items with statistics showing the listing value increasing by 2.6 per cent whereas its demand index decreased slightly by 2.6 per cent compared to the previous month.
And last on the list were cameras whose stock value increased by 12.9 per cent from February 2017, which was placed at Sh5.7 million in March 2017.
The data was compiled from Pigiame, a leading online classifieds marketplace in Kenya. Focus was mainly based on online shoppers’ activities on the marketplace against electronic products and brands.
